Three mistakes you’re making on instagram
We are living in the age of social media and it’s become a necessity to have for your business to thrive. Not everyone is a social media expert–and that’s okay! Here are some common mistakes I see businesses making and how to fix them right now.
Putting your address in your bio, not in the correct location space, or not having it at all. This is HUGE. You want to make it easier for your customers to find you. Make sure you have your address/main location so it will easily come up in the maps app on someone’s phone. Add this NOW to your contact options by going to edit profile > contact options > and adding your address in the designated area. This is something I see a lot of businesses doing and it’s SUCH an easy fix. It’s really frustrating to have to look it up on Google or go off Instagram to go out of your way into your maps app on your phone and then have to look up your business. Make your customers’ lives so much easier and add the address so it clicks and opens up on its own! It really does make a difference.
Not having your e-mail listed. This is another thing you should always keep in your bio, and adding it by doing the steps mentioned above. You want the e-mail button so it makes it easy for customers to reach you (and if you have a business phone number, add that as well). Sometimes DMs get lost and you, the business owner, may also just be better about answering e-mails. Don’t miss out on a sale or question or make people have to dig for your contact information on your website. Add these on your page today.
Not having your website or a page of links to send your customers to for more information, to make an order, make a reservation, etc. Make sure you add this in the WEBSITE space so people can actually click on the link. They cannot click links written within the bio! Not to mention, adding a website or link will only take up valuable character space within the bio for you to write your who/what/why. This is another mistake I see way too many businesses doing. Again, we don’t want people to have to take an extra step to find you or your information. Add in that website. If you don’t have a website, make one! It’s important to have both and not just rely on Zuckerberg–there’s always a change for social media outages or something to go haywire. Having a website is essential. Even if you don’t need much, there are a lot of one page templates that website hosts offer that can provide all the links for people to see your other social media pages.
BONUS: Not utilizing highlights on Instagram. Highlights are a great way to display your hours, menus, or other information that is important to your business. You could also even make one to share reviews and testimonials or how-to and instructional videos to educate people about your brand!
Now–head over to your page and start making these easy changes to help your customers! We want Instagram and social media to be a seamless experience and to make it easy for people to find you. Social media is saturated with all sorts of content and pages, so it’s important to make everything easy for people who head over to your pages.
